> Underground Market Entrance 📍
There used to be a fairly large underground market with a main entrance on Market Street selling music, clothes and other items. It was open in the 1970s and 1980 and perhaps even the early 1990s.
Other entrances were via a street level entrance on Brown Street, and stairs near Norfolk Street. Manchester Archives has this photo from the inside of the Underground Market.
An urban explorer wondered what had happened to the market, and took a look inside once they found the entrance. Take a look at their Facebook post including photos showing the decaying interior.
